Carve Or Starve, Get Creative In Your Business

Carve A Creative Mind
What if your business was treated like an ice sculpture?  Better yet, what if you treated all of your work like ice sculptures?  What would it be like to carve away new pieces of daily items only to have them melt away so you can start all over tomorrow with another one?  How creative can you make your mind behave?  If you did not need to worry about how fast your ideas would melt away, would you generate more ideas?

Creativity is a key factor to building strong business growth.  Most business owners have a good deal of creativity in their general make-up.  Even so, a lot of business owners do not do enough creative thought.  Why is that?

Creative thought was one of the dominating energies that helped drive a lot of business owners into private business, in the first place.  So why do most business models appear to respond to their marketing environments with little or no creative flair?
Carve Or Starve, Get Creative!

I see thousands of businesses every year.  I make it my business to observe their business.  Yet I do not see as many creative business models as I think there should be.  Something seems to happen to the owners of those businesses.  The owners had a good deal of creative thought going on when they were deciding whether or not they wanted to open their own business.  Unfortunately, once they take the chance and begin their shot at running a small business they seem to get too conservative and pull in the creative horns.  It seems they are too afraid of failing.

I know a lot of business owners and most of them run their models with a good deal of conservatism.  I not only respect conservative approaches, I practice them.  Many great business models have a woven stream of conservative practices threading them through each and every day of operation.  I find this method of operation very smart, generally speaking.
Increase Your Market Share

Even though a conservative approach is recommended, cutting a conservative pattern of business strategies can be enhanced with a friendly blend of some really strong creativity.  Creative thought is an essential part of helping an owner to build a business model that will eventually succeed in separating itself away from the crowd of conservatives.  The ability to sting the marketplace with recognizable influence comes only from being really creative in operating style.  Business owners who are not afraid to leverage their heart into something that allows this kind of motion to occur will be the owners who grow to learn how to capture bigger chunks of market share.  Sharing market chunks should not be a part of your business goal.  You should be more interested in finding ways to capture greater market shares than your competition.  You do not need a good lawyer to accomplish that.  You need a good dose of creative thought.
Flag Your Mind To Success
Learn how to flag your mind away from its desire to hunker down and play it safe.  You can continue to drive your model in enough required conservative fashions while you discover many wonderful and interesting avenues of the creative kind.  Start treating your business model like a daily dose of building ice sculptures.  Quit worrying about how quickly your ideas melt away.  Just start carving away with madness and see what happens.  I have discovered the things that take the most work do not always become the best volume contributors.  I have also discovered that the creative ideas I felt the best about were not often the ones that produced the best results.  The winners sneak up on you.  Oh I am sure you will find plenty of selective words to take credit for the best ideas, but mine usually came by accident.  The only reason they surfaced to success was that I was spending a good deal of energy trying to create interesting stuff.

Go ice picking today.  Have fun with it.  Let your business become more creative.

Until next time...
